COMPASSION means noticing when someone needs help and choosing to respond with kindness and respect. COMPASSION helps students build trust and connection. When students practice compassion, they learn that small actions - listening, including others, and offering support - can make a meaningful difference.

Dear Delta Academy Students, Families, and Staff:
As we welcome the month of February, I am filled with pride and excitement as we continue moving forward together in our commitment to academic excellence, student growth, and community connection. February is an especially meaningful month as we focus on important academic milestones while also celebrating culture, history, and relationships that strengthen our Delta family.
One of our primary focuses this month is the ACT Exam, which plays a significant role in college admissions, scholarship opportunities, and measuring college and career readiness. Our students have been working diligently, and we are confident that with preparation, persistence, and support, they will demonstrate their full potential.
To help our students feel confident and prepared, Delta Academy is offering FREE ACT Bootcamp Prep Sessions: βοΈ English Bootcamp: February 7 | 9:00 AM β 1:00 PM β Math Bootcamp: February 14 | 9:00 AM β 1:00 PM π¬ Science Bootcamp: February 21 | 9:00 AM β 1:00 PM π Official ACT Exam Date: February 24, 2026
We strongly encourage students to attend all prep opportunities, stay consistent with studying, get plenty of rest, and maintain a positive mindset. Families can support by ensuring students arrive on time, remain focused, and utilize available resources. Remember, preparation builds confidence, and confidence leads to success.
February is also a time to honor and celebrate Black History Month. Throughout this month, our school community will recognize the achievements, contributions, resilience, and leadership of Black individuals who have shaped history, culture, education, science, government, and the arts. We look forward to engaging students in meaningful learning experiences that inspire pride, reflection, and understanding.
Additionally, as we celebrate Valentineβs Day, we are reminded of the importance of kindness, compassion, and appreciation for one another. Small acts of encouragement, friendship, and gratitude help build the supportive and positive culture that makes Delta Academy such a special place.
Thank you for your continued partnership, dedication, and commitment to student success. Together, we will continue creating opportunities, celebrating achievements, and preparing our students for bright futures. With Delta Pride, Dr. Fredricks High School Principal, The Delta Academy High School |

βοΈβ¨ Youth Law Day at Delta Academy β¨βοΈ |
Delta Academy had the incredible honor of being selected as the first high school to host Youth Law Day, welcoming federal judges and members of their staff to campus for a powerful career exploration experience.
During the event, students learned about the many career opportunities within the legal and justice system, including roles such as attorneys, judges, paralegals, court clerks, law enforcement officers, probation officers, victim advocates, and legal researchers. Students had the opportunity to hear firsthand about educational pathways, career responsibilities, and the real-world impact of these professions.
This meaningful experience allowed our students to gain valuable insight into careers that help shape and protect our communities. We are grateful to our guest speakers for sharing their knowledge, time, and inspiration with our students. |

Supporting Students: Insights from Our School Psychologist | π― Helping Students with Executive Functioning Difficulties |
Executive dysfunction is a brain-based challenge that affects a personβs ability to plan, organize, make decisions, and follow through on tasks. Students who struggle with executive functioning may lose assignments, miss deadlines, have difficulty managing schedules, or feel easily overwhelmed.
These skills are closely tied to the frontal lobe of the brain, which develops over time. When this area is still maturing, higher-level tasks like the ones below can be especially challenging: π Executive Functioning Skills Include the Ability To: - π Analyze a task - ποΈ Plan how to approach it - 𧩠Organize the steps needed to complete it - β° Create and manage timelines - π Adjust plans when something changes - β
Complete tasks efficiently and on time
When students have difficulty with working memory, emotional regulation, attention, flexibility, impulse control, or task initiation, these challenges can impact academic success and confidence. The good news? Executive functioning skills can be taught, practiced, and strengthened over time. π± β¨ Ways to Support Executive Functioning Skills:
- π Learn what executive skills are and how they affect learning - π π« Help students connect these skills to both home and school routines - π Build executive skills into daily lessons, classwork, and homework - π‘ Support students in identifying strategies that work for them For more information about executive functioning or support strategies, please contact Dr. Shakia Knight. π 702-396-2252 ext. 124 π§ shakia.knight@deltaacademylv.com
Delta Academy and its entire staff encourage all children, at home and in school, to pursue new ideas, explore connections, and grow their strengths! |
