MONTHLY THEME:
Delta Academy
MONTHLY THEME:
KINDNESS We all make mistakes, and kindness means responding to ourselves and others with patience and understanding. It’s about pausing before reacting and choosing forgiveness over retaliation. When we remember that none of us are perfect, we naturally become kinder to each other. Offer grace; choose kindness.
INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE:
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."
– Aesop

School psychologists are key members of the school team, supporting students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. They bring expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help children succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. School psychologists provide direct support to students, including learning assessments, academic and behavioral interventions, counseling, and social skills training. They also collaborate with families, teachers, and educators to enhance school-wide practices and policies.
This week, join Delta Academy in exploring how each of us can support school psychologists in their mission to help children thrive at school, at home, and in life. Caregivers can play a vital role in helping children embrace new challenges, build resilience, and feel safe and valued. Here are some ways you can help:
● Encourage Exploration: Inspire your child to pursue new ideas and create a plan. Help them see each small step and show them how overcoming obstacles is part of their journey.
● Build Resilience: Support them through setbacks by identifying and challenging negative thoughts that may affect their confidence.
● Focus on Effort: Praise both their attempts and successes, focusing on the effort they put in to build their strengths.
● Model Curiosity: Show them how to explore new opportunities and learn about different topics. Let them know that you, too, are always learning.
● Celebrate Diversity: Demonstrate acceptance and learn actively with your child about people who are different from you.
For more information, please contact Delta Academy’s school psychologists, Dr. Shakia Knight or Dr. Kyle Konold, at 702-396-2252.
Delta Academy and its entire staff encourage all children, at home and in school, to pursue new ideas, explore connections, and grow their strengths!
As we enter November, the holiday season brings a spirit of gratitude, giving, and community support. This month is also National Homeless Youth Awareness Month—a vital reminder of the challenges faced by young people experiencing homelessness. At the Delta Academy, we believe in the power of compassion and action.
In support of this cause, we’re excited to announce a donation drive benefiting the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY). We invite students, staff, and families to contribute by donating gently used clothing, socks, hygiene supplies, and non-perishable foods.
Please drop off your donations at the collection table in the lobby. Together, we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of homeless youth in our community. Let’s show our Delta spirit by spreading kindness and support this holiday season!
The Social Work team is here to support not only students but also their families. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns; they are always happy to help.
